About Us
Kerry Community Training Centre was established in 1983 to provide an alternative learning environment for young people who did not find mainstream school suited to their needs.
Since then, we have focused on practical, hands-on education that helps learners build real skills, confidence, and direction in their lives.
We operate under the governance of a voluntary Board of Management made up of people from a wide range of community backgrounds.
Their combined experience and local knowledge help guide the centre, ensuring our work reflects the needs of the young people and families we serve.
Kerry Education and Training Board provides oversight and makes sure we meet national standards in education, training, and compliance. Our work is funded by SOLAS, the state agency responsible for further education and training across Ireland.
Their support allows us to deliver high-quality programmes without financial barriers for our learners.
At the centre of our work is a simple idea: every young person deserves a safe, encouraging space where they can learn at their own pace, discover their strengths, and plan for the future. Learners work towards nationally recognised QQI qualifications, but they also gain personal and social skills that help them move into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.
We are deeply rooted in our community and committed to serving it. Our staff take the time to get to know each learner, build individual plans, and offer one-to-one support when needed. This helps each young person feel respected and capable of reaching their goals.
For more than forty years, Kerry Community Training Centre has helped young people take their next step in life. We continue that work today with the same commitment: providing opportunities, raising aspirations, and creating a place where potential can thrive.
